A little bit about me
My name is James Salomons and I have lived and worked in Edinburgh for over 20 years. Although on the surface some may think that I have lived a comfortable life - and perhaps in some ways I have - it is the opposite that is closer to the truth. Like most people, life was something that happened to me and I rolled with the punches.
My formative years were tough. My parents divorced when I was very young, I moved country against my will, I experienced sexual abuse and my life was broadly devoid of any meaningful connection. During my teenage years, I found drugs and alcohol and enjoyed them in excess, to the point of addiction. In some ways they helped me to know myself better, in other ways they made things much worse - especially my relationships.
The fact is, I thought I was fine. I'd talked about my problems to a small handful of people over the years and, whilst it seemed to help, I know now that it barely scratched the surface.
It was in the hands of very skilled bodyworkers that helped me to truly process my past. Together, we worked through the unspoken impact of the traumas - the loss of innocence, the tears, the pain. During a particularly intense experience after one of these treatments, I received a calling to help others, just like I had been helped. So I set about studying bodywork. Not from the usual perspective of massaging tense and tired muscles, but from the perspective of working with the whole individual - their lives, their hurts and their dreams.
It took me three years of study to become qualified in Zero Balancing, and I am of the opinion that much of the qualification lies in the breadth and depth of personal work that one has to do. The acceptance and triumph over the more disturbing aspects of my past are what allows me to help you through a similar process.
We don't have to go through life increasingly burdened by our experiences and our pasts. In fact, the opposite is true. We can become lighter, freer and more in tune with life itself.
It would be an honour to help you experience the same.
