Description of a typical session

A typical appointment lasts an hour (30 minute appointments are also availble). It will include a consultation, a seated evaluation, and a full Zero Balancing session - anywhere from 20 - 40 minutes.

The consultation is usually quite brief and we'll talk about your physical and emotional well-being. We may also explore whether you have any specific intentions for the session.

Before we begin the Zero Balancing work, you will be asked to remove any items from your pockets, to remove your shoes and, if you are wearing them, to remove your belt/jewellery/glasses.

The Zero Balancing session involves you lying face-up on a massage table, fully clothed, with the therapist utilising gentle touch and stretches on the client's body, bringing it into structural and energetic alignment. The work usually takes place in silence and there may be some pauses in the work to allow your body to assimilate what has happened so far.

Zero Balancing follows a protocol which I can, and occasionally do deviate from - it really depends on what we find as we go along. Generally speaking, I'll start at your feet, and from there move up to your trunk. We'll then do some work on the hip joints and legs before giving the feet some more individual attention. Finally, we'll work on the upper body and close the session with a sequence that helps the body to integrate the session.

It's a relaxing experience and most clients close their eyes and surrender to the process. Others prefer to keep their eyes open - do whatever you are most comfortable with.

At the end of the session, you'll be left on the massage table until you feel ready to get up slowly. Once off the table, you will be asked to walk up and down to reacquaint yourself with your body. That's it! Pop your shoes backs on and integrate back into the world.
